Program Overview

According to Texas Tech University:

The purpose of the TTUHSC Nurse-Midwifery Program is to educate nurse-midwives for improving women’s health across the reproductive life cycle and beyond through scholarship, interprofessional teamwork, woman-centered care, professional service, and community engagement. Students will learn to employ evidence-based practice (EBP) by integrating the best research evidence into the master’s-prepared nurse-midwifery role, apply quality improvement as a master’s-prepared nurse-midwife, and integrate best practices in implementation of the master’s prepared nurse-midwifery role to ensure safety and risk reduction for their populations.

Admission requirements According to Texas Tech University, to be eligible for admission to the Nurse Midwifery program, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Although academic criteria (cumulative GPA) are the most important factors in admission consideration, additional non-academic information can be considered. All applicants will be reviewed in an individual and holistic manner. No single factor will determine a student’s admission.
  • All applicants who receive offers of admission will be required to submit documentation of required immunizations and consent to a criminal background check. A history of criminal conduct or convictions may result in withdrawal of the admission offer.
